Seattle Pike Chowder

Seattle Pike Chowder at Tanjong Pagar Center, 8 September 2017

Finally got a chance to try the Singapore outlet of “Seattle Pike Chowder” at Tanjong Pagar Centre! The set above – New England Clam Chowder in Breadbowl with Salad is priced at SGD14.90. You can choose to top up SGD1 for a glass of iced tea, but please check with the server what is the flavour of the tea for that day.

I’ve had this when I was in Seattle back in 2014 when I did a road trip in the West Coast of USA. I remembered it was quite yummy. And I must say “THANK GOD! The export to Singapore didn’t make it any worse.”

Usually, the food would taste better in their country of origin. Take “Pablo” as an example. The one in Osaka is the REAL Thing! The one in Singapore? Don’t even bother to queue or try it. It will tarnish the reputation of Pablo in an instant!

I’m going to try out their Lobster Roll next time I visit Seattle Pike Chowder!

Tonkatsu Toji Waken from Shin-Do for lunch! Slurp!

My first meal of the day is Tonkatsu Toji Waken from Shin-Do at Century Square this afternoon.

I love Japanese food, and don’t mind eating it everyday!

Shin-Do used to be called ‘Shin-Sapporo Ramen’, and after renaming itself, they sell a variety of rice bowls, and set meals other than ramen or udon.

I think this is quite value for money. At SGD15,90, this is rather filling! After eating this, I didn’t even eat a full dinner. I just snacked on 2 apples, and a free bread roll from Gardenia  when I bought a loaf of bread at NTUC just now.

What’s your first meal in 2017? Hope that it’s a great start to the new year! Cheers!

Company of Cats

I met 10 resident cats at The Company of Cats today afternoon and they are really cute and furry!

The first cat I saw was Belle (white ragdoll) – who was actually resting on the bucket near the door looking out the window idly.

Next, I met Skippy (grey tabby), which is quite huge for its size! It must love food a lot, or else he won’t be named after some peanut butter spread!

Meringue (brownish ragdoll) was sleeping peacefully in her favourite spot somewhere close to Skippy. However, it wasn’t really cranky when people petted her while she was sleeping. She woke up eventually, but didn’t threw any tantrums even when her cat nap was disrupted!

Lily (an orange kitty) came along and was waiting at the door, perhaps she was bored and wanted to get out of the room. I later found out that Lily had a son, and his name is Harry! Are they Lily and Harry Potter?!!

Mags (grey and white kitty) popped out of nowhere and had a cute ‘meow’ as she was also trying to find a way to get out of the room. Mags was quite lively and didn’t seem to be afraid of people at all.

Along came Elliot (looks like a Siamese Ragdoll Mix), which looks really ravishing! He looked as if he was wearing pants and boots in his lovely fur coat!

Daisy (cute small grey kitten) was labelled as the “Intern” of the gang, and she was so conscious of the camera she was always trying to escape us when we tried to take pictures of her.

Lulu has half orange and half black face, but she has a sweet nature.

Coco (the dark knight) was always hiding in a ‘box’ and licking herself, and only came into the ‘light’ when there’s treats!

Last but not the least, I finally saw Harry! He looked almost like his mother in a coat of orange fur! However, he is bigger than Lily! and he’s the one taking care of the mother now I suppose, as I saw him licking his mum, grooming her instead!

The cats at The Company of Cats are really lovely! I’m starting to miss them already!

Santa is gone… here comes the Giant Rooster for Chinese New Year!

It’s only 5 days after Christmas but the Chinese New Year decoration is already up in Chinatown!

There are many chickens along this stretch of roads, and I can’t help but think of the “Why did the chicken cross the road?” jokes as they really seem like they are ready to jump onto the roads and dash across it!

Keep a lookout for the giant Rooster, as well as the smaller chickens and chicks by the roads! Don’t count your chickens before they hatch! and make sure they cross safely to the other side where the Force is strong!

Saap Saap Thai

“Kra Pao” Basil Crispy Chicken Rice at Saap Saap Thai, Our Tampines Hub, Singapore

I crave for Thai food!! and I’m glad I will be getting my dose of AUTHENTIC THAI FOOD in Chiang Mai come 4 January 2017!

I’ll be visiting Chiang Mai for the first time as the all-time favourite destination in Thailand is Bangkok (shop, eat, massage, repeat).

I love Tom Yum Goong, Pad Thai, Pad Krapow Moo Saap (Fried Basil and Pork), Green Chicken Curry, and their Fried Fish! Just thinking of all these Thai food makes my mouth water! Fast Forward to 4 January 2017 please!!!

Christmas Dinner

Singapore Fish N Chips at Fish N Co, Changi Airport Terminal 2

This year’s Christmas dinner is held at Fish N Co in Changi Airport Terminal 2 since April is working.

Why is this called “Singapore Fish N Chips”? It’s just because it comes with ‘Chilli Crab’ sauce… But to be honest, Fish N Co needs to work harder on the flavour of the chilli crab sauce as it tastes nothing like it!

I’ve not been to Fish N Co for a while and these days, they have given fancy names to their Fish & Chips such as “Swiss Fish & Chips” – Fish & Chips with Mozza-Oregano Stuffing, topped with garlicky lemon butter sauce, “Bombay Fish & Chips” – Indian herbs-and-spice twist with curry mayo dip, “New York Fish & Chips” – Signature Fish & Chips stuffed with parmesan cheese and topped with lemon butter sauce.

Happy Boxing Day!

IKEA Restaurant

Fried Chicken Wings, Swedish Meatballs and Siew Mai at IKEA Restaurant Tampines

Needed to do some groceries shopping at GIANT, so took the free shuttle bus from Tampines MRT Station to get there and stopped at IKEA for dinner before it gets crowded!

The standards of the fried chicken wings and swedish meatballs have gone down the drain for quite some time, but it’s the ‘comfort food’ we will usually order when we go to IKEA restaurant. The Jumbo Siew Mai, however, caught us by surprise.

It’s SGD1.60 for 2 pieces, so we thought its alright to just buy and try. We were glad we did it as its actually quite yummy! One more comfort food to add to our list next time we visit IKEA Tampines!

Participated in a 2hr event – Pound & Zumba – at Pasir Ris Sports Centre on Saturday, 17 December 2016

Signed up for this 1mth ahead and paid $5 for this 2hr fitness session at Pasir Ris Sports Centre.

The event was fun! Pound was quite tiring, but Zumba was my all-time favourite fitness activity. However, I was quite pissed by these Malay ladies who came in and out of the area and caused a lot of hazards. Please join in only when we are into the next song and not just cut in halfway while we’re still moving. We could have knocked each other down!

ActiveSG has been organising quite a number of activities (some are FREE) to encourage people to lead a more healthy lifestyle.

I’m going to make use of the $100 credit inside my account to sign up for some classes next year!
